A very bad idea indeed. "Don't stray too far from us," the captain had said, jerking his horse as it grew frightened of one of the many mysteries of the forest. "I'm not sure we'll be able to find you again and I like my head firmly upon my shoulders."
And, of course, he'd been right. 'I just kinda wish I would've listened, Lyn thought despairingly, leading her horse through the trees. It nickered, nudging her shoulder and she turned, patting its muzzle a little absentmindedly. What she was mostly worried about was how to get out. Now that was what was most-she could read her book though. A grin spread across her face and, suddenly excited, she pushed forward, growling when some of the branches pushed back against her.
"Move you accursed," she growled, , shoving forward, an arm raised to protect her face. Then, suddenly, the forest was gone and Lyn stood before a lake. Gasping lightly, she let go of her horse's reigns and jogged forward, stopping just a few feet from the edge of the gloriously clear water. "It's so blue." Reaching forward she ran her fingers over the surface, enjoying the ice coldness of the water and the cool sensation that spread along her fingers. How had she never seen this lake before? It wasn't as if she was a stranger to the forest itself.

A strange sight indeed, one of such beauty trailing through an enchanted yet deadly forest. Even as such, she was separated from the group she had been traveling with. The forest was hard enough to navigate with a group of trained men, let alone by ones lonesome; and things that wouldn't dare threaten a group in the midst of the forest tend to take more kindly to one traveling alone. Even if that person happened to be trudging through the forest with a horse at her side. As luck would have it however, there was another man traveling through the forest that day. In fact, he often came here and knew his way around rather well. He happened to be heading home earlier than usual today, or perhaps he was later; he had always had a bad sense of time and direction. Regardless, he was on Lyn's opposing side, walking rather calmly. He hummed a soft tune, one that his mother used to hum to him. Upon noticing the mounted lady he stopped and turned in her direction. "One such as you really shouldn't be wandering in this forest all alone milady." He said politely as he stepped out from behind a tree. Long shaggy blonde hair covered space between his eyes, which were only further obscured by the green and white striped hat that rested upon his head. At his side was a sword, currently held in place by a black sheath and along with it was a cloth belt which held it in place. This was adjusted as he drew closer to her horse. The man had a calm aura about him and it showed rather well in his light steps and bright face. He didn't seem at all troubled by the forest around him, or even the lake that had seemingly appeared as a clearing in the forest; however even if he was he would have been far more interested in the noble as it were. He gently reached a hand out to pet her horse, as he spoke again. "A fine horse you have here. Although, I don't suppose it can lead you out of this forest? No matter, if you would like I can guide you out, or perhaps you would like to go back to your friends? Then again..." The man titled his head, gazing at the beauty of the lake before them. "Maybe you'd like to stay here for awhile...?"

"One such as you really shouldn't be wandering in this forest all alone milady." With a shrill scream Lyn let go of the reigns that held her horse and turned about, eyes wide in a face gone pale. Breathing deeply through her nose, she stared at the man, heart in her throat and standing on one foot, an arm raised as if to both strike and guard against an imagined blow. For a moment she held the pose, limbs trembling before she let them fall, coughing lightly and smoothing her riding gown out. before giving a shaky smile.
His calming aura helped Lyn's nerves to quiet as she stroked the flank of her horse who snorted and bumped her shoulder. Swallowing she opened her mouth to say something but closed it again, finding nothing to say. He spoke, however, saying "A fine horse you have here. Although, I don't suppose it can lead you out of this forest? No matter, if you would like I can guide you out, or perhaps you would like to go back to your friends? Then again... Maybe you'd like to stay here for awhile...?" He had struck upon what she wanted the most and, for a second, Lyn thought she'd melt with all the tenseness seeping out of her.
"That is, actually, be exactly what I wanted," she said, running a hand along her horse's muzzle, looking up into the large eye by her head. "Though I must ask-who are you?"

Royll was not a man above respect, especially when it came to the princess of the land he inhabited. Truth is, he recognized her from the start, and he had truly meant her no ill-will when he came upon the lake out of the forest. Her scream however, had first sent him into a panic, and it showed upon his face. As a reaction to this he quickly fell to one knee and apologized to her. If he had known he would have startled her so much he would have made his presence obvious first. "I do apologize your majesty, I had no intention of startling you. This forest isn't the safest of places and it wouldn't have sat well with me if I knew you were up and about here alone." As he spoke he kept his head lowered out of respect, and it was only after she asked his name did he rise up from his kneeling position and meet her eye to eye. Granted, considering the height difference he had to look down slightly. "The name's Royll...but most know me as Mr. Nash...I run the blacksmith in Applefield." He usually didn't give out his real name so easily, but given the situation he felt that it was proper and respectful to one of such stature. There was more too him than his name of course, and as such he figured bending his own rules one time wouldn't be such a harsh crime. In addition, the red streak of embarrassment had hardly faded from his face at this point and it would be best if he didn't deepen it further.

That didn't mean she liked it and, when the man dropped to one knee, she couldn't help but wave her hands in the air, lungs working overtime as she almost began to hyperventilate. This wasn't what she had been expecting. This wasn't why she had gone with the hunting party. She didn't want people to bow when she hadn't done anything right and they hadn't done anything wrong.
"T-that is true," she said, calming herself down and jumping from foot to foot, biting her lip. Lyn blinked in surprise, somehow not realizing just how tall this man was. Of course, she herself still had some growing to do, but her head tilted back to look at him without backing up and giving him any ground. When he spoke, she tilted her head to the side, considering his words with the slow deliberation of her age. Then, suddenly, her face broke out in a grin and she curtsied, head dipping for a moment as she had been taught. "Mr. Nash, then, she said, turning back to the lake. "[color-996666]It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm-oh, you know who I am.
" Her face turned pink and she tugged on some hair that fell about her face, not sure what to say. Honesty was always the best policy, so she decided to go with that and voice the question that had been begging to be asked. " I hope you don't mind my asking," she said slowly, turning back to him but not quite looking at him. Her eyes were more off to the side as she chose her words wisely, not wanting to upset the only person in heaven knows how far " but if you run the blacksmith, what were you doing here? You don't appear to be hunting and you don't have a horse-you don't have to answer if you don't want to. I'm simply... curious." Of course, Lyn was always curious, but it didn't hurt to give him the option of not responding if felt he didn't want to tell her. Modest huh... Not like it was any of Royll's concern how the princess dealt with society norms, but he couldn't help but notice the difference in her demeanor after he had acted out of respect. Maybe she just wasn't expecting such treatment in the middle of a forest. In fact, maybe that's why she was here in the first place to get away from it all. If that was the case it seemed that he was intruding even further into her undisclosed life. Regardless he met her curtsy with a nod and a small smile just as she was turning back to face the lake. He too, at this point, stepped forward away from her horse and joined in next to her. Then came her question, the one that Royll had expected from the start, but had not been brought up until now. He couldn't really blame her for being curious, especially considering he in fact was not hunting, and was quite a good distance away from Applefield at the present moment. In this situation, his gut told him to lie, but for some reason he didn't feel that would be the right course of action. Instead, he would go with the truth. "I'm looking for my daughter. She's a shifter so I thought she might have taking a liking to this forest." He scratched his head, sighing as he did so. The hat, which sat on top of his head shifted awkwardly and nearly fell off. In an counter act, he caught it with a flailing hand, fumbling with it a few seconds as well afterwords. "Haven't had much luck though... She's a tough one; but really shouldn't be out on her own at such a young age."
